Applying nanotechnology to Agarwood inducement
Dr. Dinh xuan Ba

Nano Oud Inoculant (NOI) consists of three parts:
Nanoparticles N1 N2 N3 N4, Natural/chemical elicitor and Agarwood inducer:
Agarwood inducer usually consists of:
- Liquid fungal culture,
- Glucose or sugar,
- Some extracts: Yeast, Malt, Chitosan,…
- Some acids: formic, malic, acetic,…
- Growth regulators,
- Others: Agar, Bran, potato,…
Agarwood inducer as an exotic attack into plant, in response to this attack plant has mobilized a range of defensive compounds to reduce the threat of injury.
Defensive compounds include:
- Phytohormones: Jasmonic acid, Ethylene, Salicylic acid, Abscisic acid,…
- Plant phenolics: Lignin, Lignan, Tannins, Flavanoids, Stilbenes,…
- Enzymes: Peroxidases, Polyphenol oxidases, Lipoxygenases,…
- Defense elicitors: Yeast, Polysaccharides, Chitosan, Glutathione,…
- ……..
In the infection area there are biochemical reactions between some defensive compounds and components of agarwood inducer, agarwood is a pathological end-product of these reactions.
Roles of nanoparticles:
- N1: Catalysis and accelerating biochemical reactions arising in the infection area,
- N2, N3: Supplementing nutritional matters to plant, enlarging the infection area,
- N4: acting as an elicitor in nano-size.
Natural/chemical elicitor: Plant-based elicitor or derived chemical of MeJa.
